BHUTAN’S PRIMARY VALUE

Tourism in Bhutan is carefully regulated to ensure minimal environmental impact. The “high value, low impact” tourism policy means visitors must pay a daily fee that funds sustainable development projects and conservation efforts. This approach limits the number of tourists, reducing the potential for environmental degradation while ensuring that tourism benefits local communities. Bhutan’s green initiatives have garnered international recognition, showcasing how a small nation can lead by example in the fight against climate change. By prioritizing the environment alongside economic and social well-being, Bhutan offers a model of sustainable development that other countries can aspire to follow.
